Joe Lolley scored an excellent brace for Nottingham Forest on Sunday afternoon as Sabri Lamouchi’s side came from behind to beat Luton Town at the City Ground – and Aston Villa fans have reacted on Twitter to his display.
Lolley, 27, has been in decent form for Forest this season – scoring seven goals for the Championship club this season, as well as laying on five assists in 27 appearances. Lolley has a contract until the summer of 2023.
The Forest winger found the back of the net on two occasions on Sunday, cutting inside on both occasions. The first, slipping an effort under the body of Simon Sluga before smashing an effort past Luton’s hapless goalkeeper from 20 yards.
According to the Birmingham Mail, Aston Villa were keen on Forest winger Lolley, but the Premier League side signed Jota from Brentford, Anwar El Ghazi from Lille and Trezeguet from Turkish side Kasimpasa instead.
The Midlands club have already completed two signings this month in loan deals for Danny Drinkwater from Chelsea and Pepe Reina from AC Milan. They are expected to re-enter the market for a striker following Wesley’s injury.
But Aston Villa fans were impressed by Lolley’s excellent form in front of goal on Sunday and many have urged their club on Twitter to reconsider the player with less than a fortnight remaining in the window. The Mail claimed in the summer that he was rated at £10million.
