Aston Villa are reportedly interested in Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo on deadline day – and some of the club’s supporters have responded on Twitter negatively by stating they don’t need him.
According to the Sun it its live transfer blog (August 8, 09:23am), Villa are in a battle with Premier League rivals Everton for the centre-back’s signature.
The report details that Manchester United want £25million to sanction the player’s exit, but a loan deal could be a possibility.
Rojo has seen his chances of playing reduced following the arrival of Harry Maguire this summer from Leicester City, while Luke Shaw is the first-choice left-back.
The Argentine international is a versatile defender that can play in the centre of defence or at full-back, but isn’t considered a nailed-on starter.
He managed only eight senior appearances across all competitions last season, with form and injuries an obstacle for him.
The 29-year-old is an experienced defender that is capable of performing at the highest level on his day, but does also have a rash side to his game with a mixed temperament.
A section of Villa supporters on social media have responded to the Rojo speculation by stating they don’t need him.
Dean Smith’s side already have several centre-back options at their disposal for the new season in the shape of Tyrone Mings, Ezri Konsa, Bjorn Engels, James Chester and Kortney Hause.
Here are some Villa fans on Rojo:
No chance. We have enough defenders, thanks

We’ve just bought 4 CBs and Rojo is old. Zero chance Villa are interested?

Really. Another CB.
Surely there’s enough depth in that position now.
Let’s have a quality experienced striker please.
