Nottingham Forest star Joe Lolley was visibly upset as Sabri Lamouchi’s side crashed out of the Championship play-off places with a 4-1 defeat to Stoke City – and Aston Villa supporters want to take advantage.
Lolley, 27, has been in stunning form for Nottingham Forest this season – scoring nine goals and creating nine more in his 42 Championship appearances. He has become renowned for his long-range shooting ability.
The former Huddersfield Town star’s form has been a huge helping hand in Forest remaining in the top six for the majority of the 2019-20 campaign. Lamouchi’s men were even close to the automatic slots at one point.
Heading into the game, Forest needed a point to secure a place in the play-offs and having gone 1-0 down to Danny Batth’s 19th-minute strike – Tobias Figuerido equalised. But it was all Stoke from that point in.
James McClean, Lee Gregory and an own goal saw Stoke produce a 4-1 win away from home, allowing Swansea to achieve a place in the top six – and Forest drop out, to the absolute despair of the Forest players and supporters.
The Birmingham Mail claimed last summer that Villa were preparing a £10million offer for Lolley last summer, with the player quoted in the report as saying that he is a boyhood fan of Dean Smith’s side.
With Forest failing to gain promotion or a place in the play-offs, Villa supporters have discussed a potential signing of Lolley. Some think he would be a good addition, while others think he would only be good if the club go down.

We need quality in that position. He is decent but we need much better if we stay up.

He is a Villa fan isn't he? Saw him a few times playing for @khfcofficial a good few years back. Would probably be a better option if we were to be relegated than if we stay up.
