Aston Villa have reportedly had discussions with AC Milan about their goalkeeper Pepe Reina – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter have given a positive reaction to the speculation.
The Daily Mail reports that Dean Smith’s team have been offered the chance to sign the veteran 37-year-old.
It is explained that the Spanish shot-stopper is “eager” to make a return to English football, as he left Liverpool and the Premier League back in 2014.
Reina is someone who has had such a great individual career to date, but aged 37 still feels he can offer more and Villa fans seem excited by his potential arrival.
He’s won one World Cup and two European Championships with Spain, as well as club trophies during spells with Liverpool, Napoli and Bayern Munich.
The goalkeeper has only played one match all season for Milan and had to occupy a spot on the bench, but Villa are in need of a solution in goal following the season-ending injury to Tom Heaton.
Heaton’s injury has given everyone real concern about the battle of relegation given his influence in the team, but signing an experienced replacement could ease fears.

A selection of Villa supporters on social media have given a thumbs up to report linking them with the Milan goalkeeper.
