Aston Villa are reportedly interested in signing Galatasaray defender Christian Luyindama this summer despite already bringing in a number of centre-backs – and Villa fans have reacted on Twitter.

Turkish outlet Fotomac claim Villa are keen on the 25-year-old who only signed a permanent deal at the Turkish club this summer, following a loan spell at Gala from Standard Liege during the second half of last season.

The DR Congo international starred for the Turkish champions, clocking up 17 appearances and helping Gala keep seven clean sheets – as well as scoring two goals, including one in the Champions League against Benfica.

Gala had an option to make the loan permanent for a fee believed to be in the region of £4.5million. Now, Villa are interested, and Gala have reportedly informed the Midlands club that they value Luyindama at £13.5million.

Villa have already brought in four new centre-backs this summer. Kortney Hause and Tyrone Mings have signed permanent deals after loans last summer, while Bjorn Engels and Ezri Konsa have completed moves.

Luyindama can also play in central midfield, but it is believed Villa are closing in on the capture of Marvelous Nakamba while Douglas Luiz has joined the club from Premier League champions Manchester City.

So, Aston Villa fans reacted on Twitter to the news that their club want Luyindama, with many stating that he would be a good signing. Others think that the interest in Luyindama suggests James Chester will leave.
