Purslow clearly stated that plans are in place to improve the quality of the squad and for current players to continue their development.

Villa finished 11th in the Premier League this season, a big improvement on their 17th place finish in 2019/20. And Dean Smith’s signings from last summer play a huge role in this leap in quality.

Emi Martinez was a hero between the sticks for Villa, whilst Ollie Watkins has provided valuable firepower in the attack. Matty Cash and Bertrand Traore have also been prominent figures in the starting XI.

And supporters on social media agreed that few extra signings were needed, with fans believing that quality over quantity is the way forward for Villa.
