Aston Villa secured a vital three points in their quest for Premier League survival last night beating Watford 2-1 at Villa Park.

Lifelong Birmingham City fan Troy Deeney opened the scoring before Douglas Luiz equalised after 68 minutes.

It had looked like being a share of the spoils until Tyrone Mings sent Villa Park into pandemonium in the fifth minute of added time.

Pepe Reina made his home debut in the Villa goal last night and the man with 38 Spain caps looked assured during the contest.

The 37-year-old is on loan from AC Milan and should provide the Villans with an injection of experience.

Following last night’s game, he took to Twitter to speak of his delight at enjoying a first win for his new club.

Wherever Reina has played, he has become a firm favourite with the club’s supporters.

At Liverpool, he was a cult hero and he’s worshipped at both Napoli and AC Milan.

If he helps keep Aston Villa in the Premier League then he could well have similar popularity in the West Midlands too.

Following last night’s game, several supporters took to Twitter to respond to Reina’s message.

Many were delighted with his performance and here is a selection of tweets from the Villa faithful lauding Reina’s display:
