Aston Villa have made it seven games unbeaten at home as they ran out 2-1 winners over Leicester City on Saturday.

The Villans opened the scoring in the 58th minute when Ross Barkley fired a superb low effort into the corner of the Foxes net from just outside the box.

Aston Villa’s lead lasted just five minutes, however, as Stephy Mavididi was on hand to slot home on the rebound from an Emiliano Martinez save.

Unai Emery’s charges battled back and Leon Bailey rose to the occasion with a 76th-minute winner as he bundled in from Ian Maatsen’s cutback.

Bailey’s winner ended a run of 19 Premier League appearances without a goal as he netted for the first time since he scored against Bournemouth in April.

Villa fans had plenty to say about Bailey in wake of his winner against the Foxes.

How the media rated Bailey display v Leicester

The Birmingham Mail gave Bailey a rating of 7 out of 10 after his display against Leicester.

‘Bailey started successive league games for the first time since suffering a hamstring injury last month,’ they began.

‘He looked confident against Brighton, but frustrated in the first half against Leicester.

‘It will be a huge weight off his shoulders to have scored his first of the season by converting Maatsen’s cross. Hopefully a springboard for more consistent displays.’

Likewise, Birmingham World gave Bailey a 7 out of 10 rating as they wrote: ‘Scored the winning goal as he positioned himself well to convert from Maatsen’s square.

‘Nearly had a second as he whacked the ball against the bar. Let down by his first half as he ran into trouble near enough every time he took on a Leicester player.’
