Aston Villa fans amazed by Jota after his display against Everton

Aston Villa had several standout players in their win against Everton on Friday night – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter were quick to heap praise on Jota for his contribution.

The 28-year-old made his first start for the club since joining in the summer from Midlands rivals Birmingham City.

He had been used as a substitute by manager Dean Smith in the opening two league defeats, but took his spot in the XI on Friday and certainly seized the opportunity.

The Spanish winger assisted striker Wesley Moraes with an excellent through ball for the opening goal, while Anwar El Ghazi added another in stoppage time to secure a 2-0 home victory in the Premier League.

Villa earned their first three points since returning to the top-flight and are looking a potent attacking threat.

A selection of Villa supporters on social media hailed Jota for his individual display against Everton.

He certainly added a major goal threat with the way he cut inside onto his favoured left foot from the right flank, something he did to assist Wesley’s goal.

The diminutive winger was extremely positive whenever in possession and it looks like he could be in line for plenty more starts this season.

Manager Dean Smith worked with him at Brentford and it’s beginning to make sense as to why he wanted to work him him again at Villa.
