Marco Bizot made his debut for Aston Villa in their Premier League opener against Newcastle United.
Emiliano Martinez missed the game due to suspension following his red card at the end of the 2024/25 season.
Robin Olsen, who had deputised for the Argentine over the years at Villa Park, left the club in the summer, and Bizot was brought in from Stade Brest as his replacement.
As TBR Football predicted, Bizot started his first-ever Premier League game against Newcastle on Saturday, and he was exceptional in goal.
Bizot pulled off a great save to deny Anthony Elanga after he went through on goal, and he backed that up with another good stop following a shot from Anthony Gordon in the first half.
Villa fans are beyond impressed by Bizot and have been raving about him on social media.

Aston Villa fans make the same claim about Robin Olsen after Marco Bizot’s debut
Olsen only played 22 times for Aston Villa during his time at the club, but he never filled fans with confidence.
Now, after seeing Bizot perform brilliantly on his debut against Newcastle United, Villa supporters all feel they’ve landed a massive upgrade on Olsen.
One Aston Villa fan said: “I’m so serious – if Olsen was in net, this game would be over already. Bizot, I am moved.”
Another tweeted: “Not being unfair on Olsen, but I’m not sure he saves that long shot from Gordon. Nice save from Bizot.”
“Bizot already looks infinitely better than Olsen,” wrote another.
Another Villa supporter said: “The difference between Bizot and Olsen is crazy!”
“From watching Robin Olsen to watching Marco Bizot, I feel like I’m dreaming.”
How many games is Emiliano Martinez suspended for?
Martinez has developed into one of the best goalkeepers in the world since joining Aston Villa from Arsenal in 2020.
The Argentine, however, had a poor end to last season as he received a red card against Manchester United on the final day of the campaign.
That cost Villa the chance to qualify for the Champions League, and Martinez also had to miss Saturday’s game against Newcastle.
However, his suspension is now over, and he will be available for selection when Villa take on Brentford in their second game of the season.
Bizot will likely have to drop to the bench as a result, which is a shame after his brilliant debut, but he would’ve known coming to Villa that he was always going to be the second choice.
