Aston Villa duo Jack Grealish and Ezri Konsa post on Twitter after Crewe win

Aston Villa duo Jack Grealish and Ezri Konsa posted their delighted on Twitter after a brilliant 6-1 victory away to League Two club Crewe Alexandra.

The Midlands giants have qualified for the third round of the Carabao Cup after a crushing win against Crewe.

Manager Dean Smith made 10 changes to his side from the last Premier League outing against Everton and his new-look team impressed.

Konsa, who was making his competitive debut for Villa, opened the scoring with a close-range header after just four minutes.

The 21-year-old defender only joined from Brentford in the summer and he expressed his delight on Twitter after the cup win.

“Competitive debut and first goal for this great club! What a feeling! Thanks for the unreal support as always!” he wrote on his personal Twitter account.

Conor Hourihane (two), Keinan Davis and substitute Jack Grealish went on to add to the scoreline.

Substitute Grealish was given a late cameo appearance and the club captain made the most of it with a goal.

He’s played every minute of the opening three league matches so far and was delighted to net his first of the season in mid-week.

“Good nights work, into the next round and always nice to get my first of the season,” Grealish wrote on his personal Twitter account.

TBR’s View:

After getting a look at a number of Villa fringe players in competitive action on Tuesday night, manager Smith can be quietly pleased about the squad at his disposal.

His second string team dismantled Crewe on the road with some exciting attacking football, albeit they are a team in League Two.

Villa do have a number of squad players that put their hand up for more minutes in the league and the fans would surely love a decent run in the cup.

Konsa looked solid at the back and will have to be patient for his opportunity in the league, with Tyrone Mings and Bjorn Engels impressing so far.

Meanwhile, it could be a masterstroke to give Grealish a late runout in the cup, as he should take confidence from a first goal of the season.
