Aston Villa are set to continue their summer spending spree with the £15 million signing of Manchester City midfielder Douglas Luiz, according to The Telegraph.
Dean Smith has been extremely active during the summer window and the Brazil Under-23 captain is set to become signing number eight.
Luiz will leave the Citizens without making a single appearance following his arrival from Vasco da Gama in 2017.
The reigning Premier League champions will insert a buy-back clause into the deal, according to the report.

Luiz has spent the last two years on loan with City’s feeder club Girona. During his spell in La Liga, he made 38 appearances for the club.
Villa won promotion the Premier League by beating Derby County in the Play-Off Final back in May.
Boss Smith is clearly wanting to ensure his team aren’t left behind in their recruitment drive and this looks like another positive addition.
TBR Verdict
This looks like another intriguing signing by the Aston Villa manager and fires another statement of intent.
Luiz has excelled for the Brazil youth teams but his performances at Girona were extremely hit-and-miss.
At 21 there is lots of potential for him to improve and he certainly fits in with the ethos of a very young Villa squad.

The fact that City are including a buy-back clause in the deal suggests that they perhaps don’t know just how good he will turn out to be yet.
Villa’s midfield of John McGinn, Jack Grealish and Conor Hourihane was instrumental in their success last season.
One of those may well drop out to accommodate the inclusion of Luiz and it remains to be seen who the unfortunate party will be.
Of all the newly promoted sides, Villa are the ones showing the most signs of intent and it will be interesting to see just how these new arrivals perform.
