Aston Villa defender Kortney Hause a rare positive in West Brom defeat

Aston Villa were beaten 2-0 at home by West Brom on Saturday in the Championship, which has left their hopes of reaching the play-offs someway off.

Dean Smith’s side were once again on the wrong end of the result, as their Midlands rivals earned three points and continued with their own push for promotion.

Villa have now picked up just one victory in their last 10 games across all competitions and are in shocking form right now.

There was a distinct lack of quality in the final third from the hosts and they continue to struggle without injured talisman Jack Grealish in midfield.

But the performance of defender Kortney Hause may have been one positive for manager Smith to take from the game and give fans a small reason to cheer.

Hause joined Villa in January on loan until the season, which was a deal that included the option of a permanent switch in the summer (BBC).

The 23-year-old endured a difficult first start for the club in the defeat to Brentford recently, but looked far more assured against West Brom.

He is a centre-back by trade and that’s his usual position, but he’s been deployed at left-back so far under Smith.

Hause was fairly confident against West Brom with some strong tackles and some good moments on the ball, which should be encouraging for supporters.

He is still a youngster that has the potential to improve and it turns out he could still be a top addition after a rocky start.
