Aston Villa are in a bit of a strange position right now.
The Villans have just got back into the Champions League for the first time since the competition was renamed, and many believes this was the time to kick on.
Unfortunately, Villa’s rise has coincided with the tightening of the Premier League Profit and Sustainability rules, and they’ve had to sell players heading into this summer.
Now, Villa are slightly hamstrung financially, but, luckily, they still have some methods to raise funds.
Speaking on the London is Blue Podcast, Ben Jacobs has been discussing some of Villa’s transfer plans, and he says that the Midlands club could still go for Conor Gallagher this summer if Jhon Duran is sold.
Conor Gallagher bid could come if Jhon Duran leaves
Jacobs shared what he knows about Gallagher.
“The three clubs are the same at the moment with Gallagher. Aston Villa who have lost Douglas Luiz, who could put together a reasonable proposal if they sell Jhon Duran. Then you have Tottenham who have the longest-standing interest in Gallagher, but their valuation is between £35-40m, then you have Atletico Madrid,” Jacobs said.

Gallagher would be a smart signing
This would be a very smart signing from Aston Villa.
After letting Douglas Luiz go, the Villans need new blood in the midfield, and Gallagher could be just the player they need.
Gallagher doesn’t quite bring the technical quality that Luiz used to, but he’s a bundle of energy and he does provide his own attacking threat.
Of course, getting Gallagher out of Chelsea won’t be easy, but if Duran does make a move away from Villa Park this summer, Unai Emery’s side should have the funds necessary to test Chelsea’s resolve in this transfer window.
Gallagher to Villa is certainly one to keep an eye on.
