Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur are currently vying for fourth place in the Premier League table.
Although there’s a possibility that fifth place could be enough, the Villans and Spurs will not be wanting to take any chances.
It’s proving to be an exciting race with plenty of twists and turns. For instance, Tottenham hammered Villa 4-0 the other week, only to then lose 3-0 to Fulham.
As things stand, Villa are currently in third with 56 points from 29 games. However, Spurs have a game in hand and are just three points behind.
Whoever seals fourth place in the Premier League table will also stand a better chance of signing the best players in the summer transfer window.
At this moment in time, a very exciting Serie A forward is said to be on the radar of both Villa and Tottenham.
Namely, Genoa and Iceland ace Albert Gudmundsson, a 26-year-old attacking talent who has been shining for club and country.
Who is Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur target Albert Gudmundsson?
Quotidiano Sportivo recently reported that Tottenham are at the front of the queue when it comes to trying to sign Gudmundsson for around £30million.
However, Calciomercato reported earlier this year that Villa – and West Ham – have been keeping tabs on the Iceland international ‘for some time’.
Gudmundsson has been in fine form for Genoa this season, registering 12 goals and four assists in all competitions.

And this week, the 26-year-old scored a hat-trick, including a stunning free kick, to help Iceland reach their Euro 2024 playoff final at the expense of Israel.
Gudmundsson is a versatile player who has featured in central midfield, No. 10, both flanks, second striker and even centre-forward in his career.
Late last year, teammate Kevin Strootman said the reported Villa target reminded him of Mohamed Salah when he was at Roma.
Not quite the finished product, Strootman seemed to suggest to Il Secolo XIX – via Football Italia – but still a “devastating player and an exemplary professional”.
Let’s see now whether there could be further developments in the coming months involving Villa, Spurs and Gudmundsson.
It could well be a packed race for his services, as he has certainly put himself in the shop window with his international hat-trick heroics.
However, whoever out of Villa and Spurs gets fourth place in the Premier League – and a guaranteed Champions League spot – will immediately have more pull for Gudmundsson.
