Aston Villa managed to complete their incoming activity prior to the intense transfer deadline day.
No fewer than 12 new players arrived at Villa Park and Dean Smith’s men look finely poised to have a decent season.
Of course, the proof will come in the way of results. How quickly all the new recruits blend into the squad could be telling.

The deadline day didn’t pass without any activity at Villa Park.
John McGinn penned a new deal, whilst some players headed for the exit door ahead of Saturday’s first Premier League game.
One of those players was Icelandic midfielder Birkir Bjarnason. The Icelandic performer arrived at Villa from FC Basel in 2017 for an undisclosed fee.
In 54 appearances for the club, he scored six goals and proved a popular figure among the Villa supporters.
With a plethora of midfield options at Smith’s disposal, Bjarnason has fallen down the pecking order.

During 2018/19 he featured in 17 games but started just 11 and wasn’t in the squad for any of the club’s play-off games.
Releasing him from his contract will allow the player to find himself a new club outside of the transfer window.
He leaves with Villa fans’ best wishes, however, and they’ve taken to Twitter to wish him well:
