Aston Villa have been very busy already this summer.
Unai Emery’s side have already brought in five new players, while, Douglas Luiz has represented an early big-name departure.
Luiz’s departure has left Villa with a serious gap in their squad, and they will need to sign a replacement in the coming weeks.
Speaking on the Claret and Blue Podcast, John Townley has been discussing how Villa plan to replace Luiz, and he’s claimed that Conor Gallagher remains a player the Villans are keen on.
Indeed, according to Townley, Villa want to sign Gallagher and he expects them to step up their interest in the England international after Euro 2024 is over.

Aston Villa will go after Gallagher
Townley shared what he knows about Villa and their interest in the £50m man.
“Villa obviously want Gallagher. Is that a deal they will pursue? I think they probably will, especially once England get knocked out of the Euros,” Townley said.
“Tottenham like him too, so there will be competition there. If not, I’d expect them to go for someone else because the money is there to sign another midfielder.”
Gallagher may need a move
Gallagher may well need to leave Chelsea this summer.
The midfielder is heading into the final year of his contract, and with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall set to arrive at Stamford Bridge, he may fall down the pecking order in west London in the near future.
Gallagher is a talented player who is certainly good enough to play for another top club in the Premier League, and with Champions League football on offer and a gap in the squad, a move to Villa could be perfect for Gallagher.
As Townley says, Tottenham are also keen, but after sealing a deal for Archie Gray, Spurs may not be in the mix for another midfielder this summer.
