Aston Villa appointment of Dean Smith could spur Scott Hogan into life

Aston Villa are said to be considering the future of their manager Steve Bruce. After a tough start to the new season, it appears there are some who feel it would be best if they moved on. There have been reports this weekend that Aston Villa would want to replace him with Brentford boss Dean Smith, should they go forward with the plan.

One man at Villa Park who would love to see the Bees manager arrive is striker Scott Hogan.

Since making a £9 million switch to Aston Villa, Hogan has struggled to find his best form at the club. In 54 games for the club, he has managed just 10 goals. Considering he has been injured for much of his time at the club, Aston Villa have certainly struggled to get value for money.

However the forward, who is reportedly on £35,000-a-week at the club, thrived at Brentford under the guidance of Smith.

It was Smith who got the best form from Hogan during his time at Griffin Park and he was desperately disappointed to see him leave in January 2017.

Aston Villa fans would love to see a turnaround in fortunes for a striker who represented a vast financial outlay for the club.

If Smith can get the best out of Hogan in the event of his appointment, it could prove to be a massive bonus for the Championship club.
