Brentford defender Yoann Barbet has seemingly waved goodbye to the Championship side on Twitter, suggesting he will not be signing a new contract – which could benefit Leeds United and Aston Villa.
Barbet, 25, is out of contract at Griffin Park and is now set to become a free agent, having played his last game for the Bees. Both Leeds and Villa have been linked in recent months.
Barbet waved goodbye to Brentford fans on Twitter with a heartfelt Tweet, but also reminded any interested parties – including Leeds and Villa – that he is now set to become a free agent.

Leeds and Villa both need centre-backs this summer. Leeds have had to make do with only Liam Cooper and Pontus Jansson as recognised senior centre-backs. Kalvin Phillips, Luke Ayling, Gaetano Berardi and Aapo Halme have filled in.
Villa, meanwhile, were forced to recall Tommy Elphick in January and sign Tyrone Mings and Kourtney Hause on loan. Mings, Hause and Axel Tuanzebe are all on loan, while Elphick’s contract expires this summer.
Both could be interested then, especially considering Barbet is regarded as one of the Championship’s best central defenders. On a free, he is an excellent signing for either club.
