Aston Villa secured ended their three-year exile from the Premier League by beating Derby County 2-1 in the Championship Play-Off Final.

Dean Smith’s men went on a tremendous run of form during the back end of the campaign to enter the top-six and secure a top-flight return.

The challenge now for lifelong Villa supporter Smith is to ensure the club becomes re-established as a stable Premier League football club.

In order to do that, he will need to enter the transfer market and add some quality to a side already brimming with talented youngsters.

Tammy Abraham will return to Chelsea following the end of his loan spell and that will leave Villa desperately short in attack ahead of next season.

Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos is attracting interest from Leicester City, according to Team Talk and Smith would be wise to throw his hat into the ring for his services.

Marseille were set to bid £16 million for the Colombian, according to the Scottish Sun and such a fee would leave the Scottish outfit with a serious decision to make.

If that is the fee that would tempt the Gers into a sale, then Villa can certainly justify the money.

With 29 goals to his name for Steven Gerrard’s team last season, the man with two Colombia caps certainly knows where the net is.

Morelos would represent a low-risk option for Smith to consider. At 23 he would fit in with a young Villa squad, whilst he could prove to be a really shrewd acquisition for the Premier League new-boys.
