Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton has offered Dean Smith a boost by returning to training following a knee injury.

The right-back hasn’t played since Villa’s 1-1 draw with Stoke City back in February but a tweet has confirmed that he is on the mend.

The Villans posted a message on their Twitter account, which read:

The 34-year-old had been in pretty decent form prior to his injury concerns.

He has featured in 32 games for the club this season and was particularly impressive during November’s second-city derby.

The 4-2 win was capped by a wonderful Hutton solo goal and have the club bragging rights over their fierce rivals.

Hutton is a bit like Marmite with the Villa faithful.

Ahmed Elmohamady has filled in at right-back during Hutton’s absence and plenty of fans prefer the Egyptian.

At 34 Hutton probably won’t play every game these days but he has looked fine during the current campaign.

Following Villa’s official media team putting the tweet live, several supporters reacted to news of his return to fitness.

The reactions were somewhat mixed and we rounded up the very best tweets regarding Hutton.
