Aston Villa made a move to sign Raoul Bellanova from Torino during the January transfer window.
That is according to Tutto Mercato Web.
So, what is the situation involving Aston Villa and Raoul Bellanova? Let’s take a look…
Aston Villa made contact to sign Raoul Bellanova
Well – according to Tutto Mercato Web – the Villans tried to sign the Torino No.19 last month.
It is said that Aston Villa are particularly impressed by Bellanova’s physical attributes – and believe the Italian would be a success in the Premier League as a result of these qualities.
However, Urbano Cairo – President of Torino – did not want to lose the Italy U21 international during the middle of the season, and demanded over €20m (£17m) from Aston Villa.
That was deemed to be too expensive a deal by those at Villa Park, and no further developments occurred.

This interest could be reignited in the summer transfer window – however.
Bellanova has made 23 appearances for Torino this season following a move from Inter Milan in July – where he finished as a UEFA Champions League runner up last season.
What Raoul Bellanova deal could mean
The interest in Bellanova suggests Unai Emery may be hoping to upgrade his right-back department this summer.
As things stand, the Spaniard can call upon two quality options in that area in Matty Cash and Ezri Konsa.
The latter has performed superbly in that position and also in the centre of defence, earning a maiden call up to the England squad earlier this season thanks to his brilliant displays.

Therefore, another move for Bellanova this summer would suggest Emery wants to upgrade on Cash more than Konsa, although both are very reliable players at Villa Park, so it remains something of a mystery.
Nevertheless, be sure to keep an eye on this situation going into the summer, as anything could happen.
