Liverpool – Jurgen Klopp had the opportunity during the summer to re-build and re-mould the Liverpool squad in his own image following a relatively success start to his managerial career on Merseyside. The energetic German led The Reds into two cup finals last season and will undoubtedly be looking to go one-step further this campaign and secure some form of silverware. The current group of players appear to possess much greater quality and strength in depth than in previous years with the signing of Sadio Mane looking inspired.
Klopp’s self-proclaimed high pressing, intense, ‘heavy rock’ style of football has already caused chaos in the Premier League this campaign and in four matches against fellow title contenders Arsenal, Tottenham, Manchester United, and Chelsea they have picked up eight points. However, whilst Liverpool look like a fierce attacking unit their defensive frailties remain the same having conceded ten goals in eight league fixtures. Klopp certainly has his side moving in the right direction, but he may require another transfer window or two in order to convert The Reds into genuine title contenders.
