'Ask for £60m', 'cash in': Some fans react after hearing Arsenal are trying to sign their '1st-class' midfield star
Arsenal are trying to sign Leicester’s Youri Tielemans, according to Goal.com.
Discussions have reportedly taken place with the 24-year-old’s representatives at London Colney in recent weeks to explore the situation.
Mikel Arteta is currently light in the middle of the park, with three Arsenal midfielders currently unavailable.
Granit Xhaka recently tested positive for covid while Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny are at the Africa Cup of Nations.
In addition, Ainsley Maitland-Niles has joined Roma on loan.
It’s therefore unsurprising that Arsenal are seemingly looking for midfield reinforcements.
And Tielemans would be a great shout for the Gunners, a talented, tenacious and pretty much complete midfielder.
In addition, the Belgium international has just 18 months left on his contract and is apparently unlikely to sign an extension.
Clubs across Europe are positioning themselves to land the Belgium international and Arsenal reportedly want to be in the mix.
The Goal.com report claims a January move is unlikely, with Leicester expected to keep hold of him as they look to convince him to sign a new deal.
However, Arsenal apparently believe they could be an appealing option for the midfielder in the summer, especially if they can offer him Champions League football.
Here’s how some Leicester fans have reacted to the Tielemans / Arsenal speculation:
Tielemans wants champions league football, he could go to the best teams. He ain’t joining arsenal— Leicester city (@AllThingsLCFC) January 12, 2022
No matter where #Tielemans goes, I wont be mad. One of the greatest ever players for us & 1st class pro— Sean Sweeney (@Sweeney_Sean) January 12, 2022
Id be shocked if he joins #Arsenal
At his age he doesn’t need to join a stepping stone club
He’s good enough to play for 1 of the biggest, best clubs in the 🌍#LCFC 🦊🏆
We accept that he will move on…we NEED to sell a player every summer.— Ansteypete (@ansteypete) January 13, 2022
FFP dictates that in order to keep improving with our low revenue stream, our business model is to develop and sell.
With the exception of Mahrez, every player sold has been adequately replaced.
We’d still ask for 60 in the summer— Max 🏴🇿🇲🥷 (@lcfcmaxx_v2) January 12, 2022
If IF Tielemans were to join arsenal, he’d instantly be your best player— Ethan🦊 (@LCFC__Ethan) January 12, 2022
Club should aggressively try to cash in on tielemans this window while he’s still worth decent dollar. Wait til the summer and we’ll be held to ransom. Last thing we want is for a £40M signing to sit tight and go for free in 18 months. Give true blue KDH his shirt.— Sean 🇬🇧 (@TrueBrit4life) January 12, 2022
