Ashley Williams is enjoying his football again. At least, that is, according to the player himself Earlier this week he told the Stoke Sentinel that he was ‘enjoying playing for Stoke’ and it shows in his form.
After an initially disastrous start to life at the Britannia Stadium, he has recently been in fine form for Gary Rowett’s men. For Wales this week he looked impressive against Denmark. It was his rasping ball which provided an assist for Gareth Bale’s goal in the 2-1 defeat.
All this could be seen as good news for Everton. Williams is of course on loan from Goodison Park.
However, despite his upturn in form, the 34-year-old should never play for Everton again.

Firstly, that bridge has been burned. His poor displays last season and tempestuously inspired suspensions did not endear him to the Everton fanbase. Simply put, the fans do not want to see him back.
There is also no more room in the inn.
Everton have Michael Keane back to international form. Yerry Mina is the long-term hope of a ‘Rolls-Royce’ defender at Goodison Park. Whilst Kurt Zouma may only be on loan, Mason Holgate and Morgan Feeney represent young options. Phil Jagielka, another veteran, is certainly more trusted.
The £12 million signing from 2016 is out of contract in the summer. It looks like his last act in an Everton shirt will be the red card he picked up against Burnley in March 2018.
