Romeo Lavia to Liverpool is a transfer deal that is dragging on and on.
The Southampton midfielder has been in talks with the Reds for what feels like an eternity, and every day we’re getting updates on the status of this deal.
Speaking on the Walk On Podcast, James Pearce has shared the latest on this move, and he says that as he speaks, discussions and negotiations are ongoing regarding Lavia’s move to Anfield, but, frustratingly, Southampton are sticking to that widely reported £50m valuation.

Talks ongoing
Pearce shared what he knows about Lavia.
“Well as we sit here now those discussions and negotiations are ongoing. It’s dragged on, as we reported on Monday, they put in a third bid that had been rejected. If you include add-ons it was around £46m, but Southampton are sticking to their valuation that is £50m+,” Pearce said.
“They regard Lavia as one of the best young players in the world, and they’re adamant they won’t budge from that. I can’t quite believe we’re sat here still talking about will it or won’t it happen. I hope it has happened by the time this podcast goes out.”

Pay it
At this point it genuinely feels like everyone on the planet knows what it would take to sign Romeo Lavia from Southampton.
The Saints want £50m, so just pay it.
In footballing terms, the difference between £46m and £50m is minimal in any case. So why don’t Liverpool just cough up the cash?
Of course, bargains are good when you can get them, but sometimes, you just have to pay up in order to get a deal done and help your squad improve.
Liverpool need to stop messing about and stump up the cash to sign Lavia.
