Newcastle United should be boosted by the news that Tottenham are eyeing up a number of new signings, especially when it comes to landing Danny Rose.

Rose has been on loan with Newcastle from Spurs after falling out of favour under Jose Mourinho.

The England defender had been a regular under Mauricio Pochettino but slipped down the pecking order once Mourinho got his feet under the table.

Subsequently, the left-back moved to the northeast on loan. However, has made only five, albeit impressive, appearances for the Magpies as the season was cut short.

But with Foot Mercato claiming Spurs still want to sign Ben Chilwell, could this be the final opening Newcastle needs when it comes to landing Rose permanently?

Danny Rose the perfect signing to kick off the new era

It’s an exciting time to be a Newcastle United fan at the moment. As a takeover edges closer, all the talk is of who the club will splash their new riches on.

And while big names will be linked, the club will also need steady players who know the league. That, then, is where a signing like Danny Rose comes in.

Rose has been a fine Premier League player over the years. Since making a splash with a stunning goal for Spurs against Arsenal, the left-back has cemented himself as one of the better full-backs in England.

Indeed, 29 caps for England show his quality. At 29-years-old, he should now be in his prime years.

What better time, then, for Newcastle to make their move and ensure Rose is a key fixture in the Saudi revolution on Tyneside.
