Newcastle United midfielder Mo Diame is leaving St. James’ Park after the club opted not to extend his contract.
The Senegal international will move on from the Magpies after three seasons with the club.

The combative midfielder made 103 appearances for the Toon Army and scored eight goals.
He played a key role for Newcastle last term, helping the club finish 13th.
He struggled with injuries in parts, meaning he was restricted to 29 appearances in total.
But in the early stages of 2018/19, Diame stood out for Rafa Benitez’s side where most of the team struggled.

The manager said of Diame (via the club’s official website): “Mo has been a great servant to Newcastle United in his three years here. He has given us a lot on and off the pitch and we wish him well for the future.”
The star will now turn his attentions to this summer’s Africa Cup of Nations with Senegal, and then begin a new chapter in his club career.
Newcastle fans react
Diame tended to divide opinion amongst Newcastle fans.
He was often praised for his defensive work, such as making tackles and interceptions, but drew criticism for his passing which could be slightly erratic at times
That said, a large majority seemed sorry to see him go:
