Journalist drops fresh update on Arsenal and Riccardo Calafiori as Bologna dig their heels

Arsenal are pushing to try and sign Italian defender Riccardo Calafiori but Bologna are not quite rolling over just yet.

It’s no secret that Arsenal want to get the deal for Calafiori over the line but so far, nothing has been signed and sealed just yet.

Calafiori impressed all last season under Thiago Motta at Bologna and despite Italy being poor in the Euros, he managed to make an impression in the tournament.

Arsenal, then, are deemed favourites to sign him as it stands and reports over the weekend have suggested personal terms have been agreed.

However, as yet, there has been no fee or deal agreed between the two clubs and according to journalist Rudy Galetti, that is all down to Bologna.

Bologna hoping to get huge fee for Riccardo Calafiori

Taking to X to share an update on the situation with Calafiori and Arsenal, Galetti has suggested that Arsenal are indeed trying to speed things up.

However, despite putting around £45m on the table for the Italian, there is still no deal in place and according to Galetti’s information, Bologna are trying to get as much money as possible for the defender.

With Arsenal clearly intent on getting the deal for Calafiori done, Bologna are now looking to seize their moment and get maximum value for their star man.

Quite what the final figure might end up being remains to be seen but given Arsenal have already apparently put more than £40m down, it looks like Bologna are looking for £50m+.

The Italian side are set to bring in big fees this summer as they also close in on selling Joshua Zirkzee to Manchester United.

More players could also leave after manager Thiago Motta was poached by Juventus.

Arsenal, meanwhile, are looking to get their business done early and along with Calafiori, also watched Ferdi Kadioglu in action at the Euros last night.
