West Ham United striker Javier Hernandez’s future could come into fresh doubt, as the club target Internazionale’s Gabriel Barbosa.
Sports Mediaset claim the Hammers have put an offer to the Italian giants for ‘Gabigol’, who is currently back in his homeland on loan at Santos.
Manuel Pellegrini appears to feel the need to strengthen in the forward areas, with Marko Arnautovic seemingly a bit fragile due to an ongoing knee issue.
The Austrian is vital to the London side and they cannot afford to lose him to long-term injury.
Andy Carroll continues to spend most of his time in the treatment room, meaning Hernandez is someone with a big role to play.
But he hasn’t really done all too much to convince since joining the club last year from Bayer Levekusen.
Gabigol offer should have Hernandez very worried
The Mexico international, who has 105 caps for his country, just hasn’t been able to hit the ground running at West Ham since his move from the Bundesliga.
His goals to game record at Leverkusen and Manchester United were very respectable.
Now Hernandez is used more from the bench, and struggles to get involved in games with what little time he is afforded.
The frustrating thing about the player is that, if he is not doing what he does best which is scoring goals from inside the area, then he isn’t doing much else.
He is perhaps a little too one dimensional, whereas Arnautovic has a lot more to his game. As does transfer target Gabigol.
West Ham making an offer for Gabigol could perhaps signal the beginning of the end for The Little Pea.
