Tottenham Hotspur are trying to negotiate fresh terms with Christian Eriksen.
The playmaker has just 18 months left on his current deal, and is being targeted by the likes of Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.

The Sun claim he wants a hike on his £70,000-a-week wages and to be put on a par with top earners Harry Kane and Dele Alli.
Eriksen is into his sixth season with Spurs, and has emerged as one of the Premier League’s best creative midfielders during that time.
It would be a hammer blow if Tottenham couldn’t negotiate a new deal for him.
On his day, he is world class and Spurs must try and fend off the European giants, as they have done with most of their other stars.

Something that has supposedly been nagging Eriksen is Mauricio Pochettino playing him out of position.
If Eriksen is going to stay then he might need assurances he can play through the middle, so would that mean Alli would have to compromise?
Alli to change position
Eriksen is right to feel aggrieved having to play out wide.
The Denmark international is much more effective through the middle, where he can play intricate through balls for the likes of Kane and Lucas Moura.
The awkward thing for Eriksen though is that Alli likes to operate as the most advanced central midfielder.

It’s a position that very much suits the Englishman, but if Eriksen is to stay at the club then Pochettino might have to find a new role for him.
Something Pochettino could do is move Alli right up to play alongside Kane.
Alli often plays very far forward, and he could do a job alongside someone he has a great understanding with.
That would free up space for Eriksen to operate in behind, although it would then cast doubt over Lucas Moura’s starting prospects.
