As Bayern wave bye to Ivan Perisic, Tottenham have to seize the moment and sign him – TBR View

Tottenham have had a successful transfer window in the main, with Jose Mourinho adding some quality to his squad in key areas.

Daniel Levy has backed his manager and the signings of Joe Hart, Matt Doherty, and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg should prove shrewd acquisitions for the club over the course of the season.

However, Mourinho is still said to be keen on strengthening in attacking areas, with another striker and potentially another winger being high on the agenda for the Portuguese boss.

And with Bayern Munich saying goodbye to Ivan Perisic today, opting not to sign him permanently, it presents Mourinho and Spurs with the ideal chance to land a player of the highest quality.

Spurs were linked with Perisic just last month and given he is now on his way back to Inter Milan and potentially available, the timing has never been better should they wish to make their move.

Calciomercato claimed that a swap involving Erik Lamela was previously in the offing. Whether that deal, or a straight cash deal, gets looked at, remains to be seen but it’s certainly something Spurs should consider.

Pace, experience, goals, and a winning mentality, Perisic is perfect for Mourinho

Those who have just watched the recent Amazon series will have seen that Mourinho likes to have characters in his team with big mentalities.

Players who have won at the very top of the game and accept nothing else but either winning, or going down with the biggest of fights.

Perisic is all of those things. As well as being a quality player for both club and country – he has 90 caps for Croatia – he is coming off the back of a season in Germany where he has just won three major trophies.

In addition, he scored eight goals and set up a further ten during his spell with Bayern and despite being 31, seems to be in the form and fitness of his life.

If Spurs are serious about the top four and want players with proven ability to drive them into those spots, then a move for Ivan Perisic is really a no-brainer for the club.
