‘I can only praise him’: Arteta says he loved what one of his Arsenal players did in the 85th minute at Wolves

Well, you can’t say that Alexandre Lacazette doesn’t care about Arsenal can you? Despite the fact he is yet to sign a new contract with the club and could leave in the summer.

Despite missing a few good chances against Wolves, the Frenchman stuck at his task and was rewarded in the final moments of the game as he scrambled a winner past Jose Sa in the Wolves goal. It was a moment to savour for Lacazette, who was as delighted as anyone on and off the field in Arsenal colours.

One man who was obviously delighted was Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta. The Spaniard was full of praise for a number of his players after the game. But speaking about Lacazette, the Gunners boss picked out a specific 85th minute moment when talking about his experienced striker.

“When I see our striker in the 85th minute, chasing a full-back in the corner flag, winning the ball back, playing, going, fighting, missing one chance, missing two chances, going again. What can I do? I can only praise him and try to help him as much as possible and give him support. At the end he got the reward. For me, it’s Lacazette’s goal,” Arteta told Football.London after the win.

TBR’s View: Lacazette Could Get New Arsenal Deal

Despite the focus on youth at the club, if Arsenal can ensure they get this Lacazette in the next few seasons, then a new contract is a must. Of course, they’ll be worried, given what’s happened with Ozil and Aubameyang.

However, Lacazette looks like a different animal right now. Sure, the goals aren’t flying in. But his performances and work ethic is brilliant and it’s helping out massively. If Arsenal do make the top four, then Lacazette will have more than played his part you feel.
