Mikel Arteta has provided Arsenal fans with the injury update they were desperate to hear, with the Gunners boss confirming that Bukayo Saka could be available for their Europa League group-stage clash on Thursday – in comments reported by the club’s official website.

Arsenal were handed a major scare during their 5-0 win over Nottingham Forest at the weekend. Saka limped off during the first-half. And there would have been real concerns that he may be set for a spell on the sidelines.

Thankfully, the injury did not hurt Arsenal on Sunday. They went on to secure the win which sent the side back to the top of the Premier League table.

And it seems that they have now received another big boost.

Saka was seen in training ahead of the game with the Swiss side on Thursday. And Arteta has now provided a positive update on his fitness.

“Bukayo just missed one or two sessions and was fine today,” he said, as reported by the club’s reported website.

“Yes,” he simply replied when asked if he could be available for tomorrow.

It is huge for Arsenal to have Saka back available. He has been unbelievable for some time. And he has remained a crucial part of their success not that they are flying at the top of the table.

Arsenal were able to cope without him at the weekend. However, there is little doubt that their hopes of maintaining that success would have been done no favours had they lost Saka for any significant period.

He is a ‘special‘ talent. And he is absolutely thriving in his current role in Arteta’s system.

It would be a surprise if he did actually feature against Zurich. The Gunners should surely have enough quality to overcome the side sat bottom of their group.

But with trips to Chelsea and Wolves lying ahead in the Premier League before the break in the World Cup, having Saka available is certainly going to boost Arsenal’s hopes of remaining the pace-setters for a while yet.
