A number of Arsenal fans have urged Gunners boss Mikel Arteta to give Mesut Ozil another chance in wake of his heartfelt Twitter post on his seven-year anniversary of arriving at the Emirates Stadium.
The 31-year-old joined Arsenal to much fanfare under Arsene Wenger in 2013 for a reported £42.4million, and his £350,000-a-week extension in 2018 showed just how much he was valued at the club.

As recently as this year, some of Ozil’s performances have earned huge plaudits, with Martin Keown deeming him “magnificent” after his performance in Arsenal’s 4-0 win over Newcastle in February.
However, Ozil has been utilised sporadically by both Unai Emery and Arteta, and after English football resumed in June, he did not play a single minute in the Premier League or FA Cup, a back injury cited as the issue.
The World Cup winner has regularly underlined his intention to see out his contract in North London and seemed to reaffirm his commitment to the club in a social media post on Tuesday afternoon.
Ozil’s post, which received over 15,000 replies, saw some Arsenal fans urge Arteta to give the attacking midfielder another chance ahead of a big 2020-21 season:
According to the Irish Independent, clubs in Saudi Arabia and Qatar have expressed interest in signing Ozil this summer.
