The highlight of Arsenal’s impressive win against Leicester City last weekend was that Aaron Ramsdale save.
The Englishman channelled his inner Manuel Neuer and leapt across to stop what looked like a certain goal from James Maddison. Ramsdale has earned a ton of praise for his phenomenal save over the last few days and rightly so.
Peter Schmeichel even labelled it as the ‘best save’ he’d ‘seen for years’.
Arteta sure was a happy man after the game and he has been delighted with Ramsdale’s recent performances. However, he has revealed the one thing he liked last weekend much more than that ‘sensational’ save.
Arteta: What I liked more than that Aaron Ramsdale save
Speaking about the save, the Gunners boss said, as per Arsenal.com: “It was sensational.
“But, (what) I liked the most was the reaction from the other teammates getting back, and Thomas (Partey) clearing the ball off the line. Because if (Ramsdale) makes that save, but they end up putting the ball into the net, it wouldn’t stand for anything.
“So, it’s not about a player, it’s about the team, and everybody’s involved in that. I’m happy because we prevented a big moment in the game.”

TBR View:
Ramsdale’s stop last week is arguably the save of the season so far. It was absolutely incredible, but Partey deserves some credit too for clearing the ball off the line before a Leicester player got there.
Arteta’s right, it’s not about one player, it’s about the team. However, individual moments of brilliance are necessary to get results at times, and Ramsdale’s spectacular save did just that last week.
Arsenal now host Watford in the Premier League tomorrow before the players head out for international duty. A win would be the perfect way to end off what has been a brilliant few weeks for Arteta and his men.
