Arsenal News: Report drops revelation about Arteta picking Zinchenko this season

Arsenal are flying high at the top of the Premier League and new signing, Oleksandr Zinchenko, has been a key part of their rise.

Signed from Manchester City in the summer, Zinchenko has proven to be a superstar for the Gunners. Operating at left-back but often tucking into a more central midfield role in games, the Ukrainian has shown just why Mikel Arteta was so keen to sign him.

Zinchenko has had a few injury problems so far at Arsenal. Those problems have opened doors for the likes of Kieran Tierney. But when fit, Zinchenko is the main man and according to The Telegraph, Mikel Arteta has even been selecting the former City ace when he’s not fully fit.

The Telegraph writes how Arteta values Zinchenko that much, that he’s been selecting him when not 100%. It cites how Arsenal have picked Zinchenko for crunch games with Man United, Chelsea, and Arsenal. This, despite Zinchenko not even being in full training ahead of those games.

Clearly, Arteta sees the 26-year-old as absolutely crucial to his team. Known for being a reliable figure at City under Pep Guardiola, Zinchenko is now bringing that to The Emirates.

TBR’s View: Zinchenko was always going to shine for Arsenal

There was a reason Mikel Arteta went knocking at his former club for Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus. He’d seen first hand how influential the pair could be, and he’s reaping the rewards of that pursuit now.

Zinchenko has been different class for Arsenal. At times, he looks like a player who you can’t believe City even considered letting go, never mind going ahead with the sale.

For Arsenal, keeping Zinchenko fit will be vital. But it seems here that, even at half fitness, Zinchenko is someone Arteta will turn to. And if he keeps producing as he is, then that will sit just fine with the Gunners fans.
