Arteta claims things will get better for Arsenal
Mikel Arteta has claimed things will get better when the senior Arsenal player’s return.
What’s the story?
Speaking in his post-match press conference, the Spaniard was positive about the impact his senior players can have.
Arsenal’s start to the season has been hampered with a raft of stars missing due to injuries.
Alexandre Lacazette, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alex Runarsson and Willian missed the Brentford loss due to COVID-19.
The Gabonese star returned in yesterday’s defeat to Chelsea but was lacking fitness, quite noticeably. Meanwhile, Lacazette and Willian are yet to return.
It seems their presence was sorely missed, with the Blues beating Arsenal easily.
Goals from Romelu Lukaku and Reece James helped Thomas Tuchel’s side ease to victory.
When talking about the return of senior players helping, Arteta said: “Yes, 100%.”
Senior players will not help Arteta revive Arsenal or his career
At this point, you feel as though the 39-year-old is clutching at straws.
Whether senior players were available or not, yesterday’s display was pathetic, both from players and manager alike.
Senior players will not help Arteta in his task to revive Arsenal or his own career as a manager.
You feel as though the writing is on the wall for an inexperienced coach.
His lack of tactics shone through yesterday as the Blues eased to victory in first gear.
21 crosses were attempted, of which just three were successful. This tactic to throw as many crosses into the box, hoping one will find a man, is a terrible style of play.
Arsenal’s defence also seems to be at sixes and sevens after yet another disastrous display.
Senior players or not, surely Arteta is not far away from getting the sack.
