Arteta already has an ‘unbelievable’ LCM option at Arsenal, he could be their Cazorla regen

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta currently has a selection dilemma on the left side of midfield.

Since Granit Xhaka left the Gunners in the summer, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has struggled to adequately replace him.

Arsenal signed Kai Havertz in summer, but he’s yet to impress for the Gunners. Likewise, Fabio Vieira hasn’t really kicked on.

For much of the campaign, Declan Rice has filled that No. 8 slot, but the £105million man admitted he is most comfortable at No. 6.

One alternative Arteta could use at No. 8 is Leandro Trossard. The Belgian played there more than once in pre-season and gave a great account of himself.

He played there against Barcelona, albeit switching positions with teammates at various points in the game.

Do Arsenal already have the new Cazorla?

Trossard was a threat in transition in the first half and scored two excellent goals in the second half.

Indeed, there have even been comparisons between Trossard and Arsenal legend Santi Cazorla, testament to the Belgian’s quality.

The 28-year-old’s dribbling, close control, pressing and ability to get out of tight spaces makes him a great shout at LCM.

Trossard also knows how to create a goal, both from open play and set pieces, and he’s naturally a very hard worker, so he’d be a real threat in that position.

Admittedly, physicality could be an issue for Trossard at LCM, but as a more attack-minded No. 8, he would definitely impress in red and white.

The only other issue – if you could call it that – is that the ‘unbelievable‘ Belgian is likely going to be needed elsewhere for the time being.

For instance, Trossard has shown how good he is leading the line, and could well keep doing so until Gabriel Jesus is fully fit and ready to start again.

Meanwhile, the player himself admits his favourite position is No. 10, but with Arsenal playing 4-3-3 and Martin Odegaard being top of the pecking order, he likely won’t get his wish anytime soon.

Nonetheless, Trossard’s quality, attitude and versatility make him a wonderful asset for Arsenal and, if Arteta is looking for a new LCM option, he should think about playing the former Brighton man there.
