Liverpool are the favourites to win the Premier League this season, ahead of Arsenal.
The Reds are seven points clear of the Gunners at the top of the table, and even though they dropped points against Everton in the Merseyside Derby, most people will still back them to go all the way.
Arne Slot deserves a lot of praise for the work he has done since replacing Jurgen Klopp at Anfield. He is among the biggest reasons why the Reds are where they are.
Many of Slot’s players are having a fine season too. Arsene Wenger has had his say on one of them.
Arsene Wenger explains why Mohamed Salah is his ‘favourite’ player in the world right now
Mohamed Salah is having a stunning season at Liverpool.
The Egypt international has been the Reds’ main man for several years now, but many people questioned if he could still deliver after Klopp’s departure.
Salah, who is into the final few months of his contract, has arguably been the best player in the world under Slot so far this term.
In a quick interview on Goal, Wenger was asked to name his five favourite players in the world right now.
The legendary Frenchman initially placed Salah in fifth, but he changed his mind and named him right at the top as his favourite non-Arsenal player in the game today.
Here’s what he said: “Well, outside of Arsenal, I would say Salah, Palmer, Vinicius, Mbappe…”
The host, Juwon, then asked: “And number one? Who is your favourite player to watch right now?
Wenger replied: “The favourite player, at the moment, is I think a guy like Salah because of the longevity of his career, he’s still at the top when you exciting players like Yamal, like Palmer.

What Arsene Wenger once advised Salah?
Wenger is one of the greatest footballing minds in the history of football.
The Frenchman revolutionised the English game when he became the manager of Arsenal, and even though he hasn’t managed for nearly seven years, there are very few who are better than him.
Salah, who is among the best players in the world, met Wenger at Melwood one time, and he asked the legendary Arsenal boss a question.
Salah said in a video on Liverpool’s social channels: “I got advice from Arsene Wenger before. He was at Melwood at that time, then I asked him: ‘What’s the difference between a good player and a really, really good player?’
“He said: ‘I think the very, very good player is always focused on the game, even if he doesn’t have the momentum. He stays in the game until the last minute or until the whistle.’
“I think for me, I know there’s some games I don’t have the momentum, I don’t have the game, but I’m always focused on the game to finish stuff.”
