Arsene Wenger reveals who he thinks will win the Premier League out of Liverpool and Arsenal

Unfortunately for Arsenal, Wolverhampton Wanderers couldn’t do them any favours against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday, despite their best efforts.

Arsenal secured all three points early on Saturday away to Leicester City, a match which was the first of their new era without a striker.

Pep Guardiola famously won the Premier League without a ‘proper’ number nine himself at Manchester City, but Arsenal genuinely don’t have anyone who would even be regarded as a false nine right now.

Micah Richards thinks Ethan Nwaneri can play as a striker, but that’s an experiment that’s likely to be more long-term.

Of course, Liverpool shouldn’t have any problem scoring goals over the next few months owing to Mohamed Salah’s excellence.

Arne Slot has a wealth of attacking options available, explaining why Liverpool are now strong favourites to win the league in the Dutchman’s first season.

Arsene Wenger still thinks Liverpool are ‘super favourites’ to win Premier League

That being said, former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has just shared his thoughts on the title race whilst speaking to beIN SPORTS.

Wenger said he has been ‘praying’ for his old side to get back to the top of the Premier League, even if he thought that prospect was very unlikely.

The Frenchman referenced that Slot’s side had only lost one game all season, a 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest at Anfield, something that doesn’t bode well for Arsenal.

Wenger said: “Look it’s simple, like they said, they need to lose games, but now we are 25 games played and Liverpool lost one.

“So they have to lose three at least in the next 13 games, at the moment it looks unlikely, unless they collapse.

“But until now they lost only one game, so they are the super favourites, and on top of that, Arsenal has to make now the perfect run.

“So I pray, I pray, but I have to improve the quality of my praying.”

Mikel Arteta might still have a secret weapon in the title-race

As things stand, Liverpool are seven points ahead of Arteta’s team, having finally played their game in hand.

In addition, Slot’s side also have a superior goal difference to Arsenal, with everything currently pointing the title towards Anfield.

As mentioned, Arsenal don’t have a striker until the end of the season owing to Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz’s injuries.

However, it’s now being reported that Arsenal might get the opportunity to sign Roberto Firmino as a free agent, which would be an extraordinary story.

Firmino is currently playing in the Saudi Pro League but has just been left out of Al-Ahli’s squad for the second half of the season.
