Arsenal’s Shkodran Mustafi posts controversial Twitter message to Mesut Ozil

Arsenal defender, Shkodran Mustafi, has taken to Twitter to send his well-wishes to the departing Mesut Ozil with somewhat a controversial message.

Ozil’s stay with Arsenal finally came to and end today as the German midfielder confirmed his move to Fenerbahce with a host of tweets and Instagram posts tracking his every move to Turkey.

The deal will be a big burden lifted off of the club, with Ozil’s lack of playing time and mammoth wages dominating talk among a lot of Gunners supporters and pundits in recent times.

And with Ozil now out the door, the club will no doubt look to move forward and improve the squad the best they can.

But in a show of loyalty and friendship towards Ozil, defender Mustafi used his Twitter platform to post a slightly controversial message, suggesting the Gunners hadn’t done enough as a team to help the departing Ozil.

A quick glance into the replies would suggest Mustafi’s comments have not been well received, while it is a bit of a bizarre take from the German defender to apparently have a dig at the club.

What was wrong with Mustafi simply wishing his friend the best of luck here? He didn’t need to have the undertone in his message that will now simply cause more controversy and discussion around the club.

Mustafi, who earns a reported £90k-a-week with the club, is well within his rights to express and opinion and give his pal his best. But bringing the club into it and giving fans more ammo to have a go back at you, is simply not ideal.
