Nketiah came on as a second-half substitute to slot home in the 83rd minute of the 3-3 UEFA U21 Championship qualifier away in Andorra.

It was his ninth goal in England’s last five qualifying games and nearly sealed victory, only for Christian Garcia to grab a stoppage-time equaliser.

As well as impressing for his country at U21 level, Nketiah has been progressing nicely at Arsenal, with Gunners boss Mikel Arteta giving him plenty of game time this year.

This term, Nketiah has made seven appearances for his club in all competitions, netting twice.

Up next for England’s U21s is a qualifier against Turkey’s U21s at Molineux on Tuesday, with victory for Aidy Boothroyd’s Young Lions ensuring their qualification to the Euros.
