'Five years of pain', 'Wow': Some Arsenal fans react as 94-cap int'l agrees five-year contract; deal worth £17.3m
Some Arsenal fans were reacting after a transfer update emerged over Granit Xhaka.
According to football.london, the midfielder has agreed on a five-year deal with Roma. The ace is thought to be keen on the idea of playing under Jose Mourinho, whom he has been in contact with.
Xhaka enjoyed a brilliant end to the season and was named in the CIES Premier League team of the season.
He would be Arsenal’s first piece of business in this transfer window. The ace could be joined by Hector Bellerin and Bernd Leno, who have also been linked with exits.
Meanwhile, Andre Onana has been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium.
TBR View: Xhaka transfer a years in the making for Arsenal
A transfer away from Arsenal has been in the making for a number of years for Xhaka.
His arrival at the club heralded the arrivals of one of the most frustrating players in recent history.
The 28-year-old’s inconsistency meant he was fairly unpopular with the Emirates Stadium faithful.
His run-in with fans back in 2019 was a dead giveaway that Xhaka wouldn’t be at the club any longer.

Thank God, never disliked the guy but way too passive at times. Just passing side to side not good enough. Need more shots on goal. Neves?— East Stand Gooner (@Cannonballrun89) June 10, 2021
