Gabriel Martinelli has posted on Instagram after scoring his first Premier League goal for Arsenal on Monday night as the Gunners came from behind to beat West Ham – and Ian Wright has commented on the Brazilian’s post.
The 18-year-old was handed his first Premier League start on Monday despite previously scoring seven goals in the Europa League and Carabao Cup. Needless to say, then, Martinelli scored with a very tidy finish on the hour mark.
It saw the £6.5million (Sun) signing cancel out Angelo Ogbonna’s opener, as the Italy international scored an excellent header midway through the first half. Arsenal, meanwhile, were dismal for the first hour – but finally returned to form after.
Martinelli’s goal was followed by an excellent curling effort from club-record signing Nicolas Pepe, before captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scoring a third. Martinelli has posted on Instagram after the match.
Interim manager Freddie Ljungberg will have been delighted after making some brave decisions with his team selection. He dropped Alexandre Lacazette, David Luiz and Matteo Guendouzi, and the tactical switch paid off.
Fresh from competing in the I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here jungle, Arsenal legend Wright responded to Martinelli’s Instagram post by predicting the former Ituano star has a huge future ahead of him at The Emirates.
