Report: 'Phenomenal' Arsenal player now likely to move to Spain on loan with Edu struggling for buyers

Arsenal winger, Nicolas Pepe, could be on his way to Spain this summer in a loan deal with the Gunners struggling to attract bidders.

The Ivorian is among a group of players at The Emirates who can leave this summer. It’s been reported that Arsenal will accept as little as £25m for player they paid more than £70m for, with West Ham among those teams in England keen.

However, according to a report from The Sun, Arsenal are now struggling to attract bids for Pepe and instead could sanction a loan move. The Sun claims, citing reporter Mark Mann-Bryans, that a move to La Liga is the most likely option as things stand.

Despite being praised by Mikel Arteta and lauded as a ‘phenomenal‘ player, it’s a fair assessment to say Pep hasn’t hit the heights expected since arriving at Arsenal. He remains the Gunners’ record signing but the club are thought to have come to terms with the fact they won’t be seeing a hefty return on that investment.

It remains to be seen which Spanish clubs will show interest in Pepe.

TBR’s View: Nicolas Pepe Needs To Leave Arsenal For His Own Good

It just hasn’t worked, has it? Despite little flashes of brilliance here and there, Pepe just hasn’t delivered, and that’s without even taking the £72m price-tag into consideration.

For now, it seems like a move away would be best for all parties. The Gunners have signed two more attacking players in Jesus and Marquinhos, while they remain keen on Raphinha as well. That in itself is an indication that Pepe isn’t going to be used too much this coming season.

There is still time for Pepe to come good and deliver. But he needs a move to do that, and he needs it as quickly as possible.
