Arsenal waiting for offers for Willian, says Fabrizio Romano
Willian is reportedly set to join David Luiz out the exit door at Arsenal this summer after just one year with the north London club.
According to Sky Sports Italia journalist Fabrizio Romano, the 32-year-old attacker is expected to depart Arsenal in the off-season with the Gunners reportedly set for a major squad overhaul this summer, with the Guardian reporting that as many as five senior players could leave in the coming months.
Willian has struggled for form since changing the blue side of London for the red, with the winger scoring just once for Arsenal, a free-kick against West Brom, and being at the centre of criticism from supporters and pundits for several underwhelming performances that have seen the Gunners slump to midtable.
The Athletic reported earlier this week that Willian could be one of the first-team players that might leave Mikel Arteta’s side this summer, yet Romano now claims that Arsenal are ‘waiting for official bids’ for the Brazilian international, who joined from Chelsea for free last year.
TBR View: Arsenal can pull of masterclass by selling Willian for profit
This summer is slowly shaping up to be one of the biggest in Arsenal’s recent history, with some players said to be eyeing up a move away from the north London club with Arteta keen to bring in fresh faces that can catapult the Premier League giants back to the top of the English game, and selling Willian is a great step in the right direction.
Arteta and Edu can pull off a masterclass by not only shipping off Willian, but allowing the Brazilian to leave for a transfer fee; a dream scenario for supporters who are eager to see the attacker leave the Emirates this summer as the club aim to improve on this season’s poor showing in the Premier League.
