‘Got a sneaky feeling’: Journalist thinks Mikel Arteta will spring Arsenal selection surprise at Wolves

Arsenal are back in Premier League action this week as they travel to Wolves to take on a Bruno Lage team who are looking increasingly better this season.

The Gunners will know a tough game is in store at Molineux. Lage has got his Wolves side looking defensively sound, while key attacking players are just starting to click into gear a bit as well. However, it is a game Arsenal will fancy winning, especially with their top four hopes still firmly alive.

But one key problem Arsenal could have is who plays at right-back. Takehiro Tomiyasu is likely to miss the game through injury. It means Arteta faces a big selection call. He has, at times, used Ben White there, while the experienced Cedric is also an option.

But according to Arsenal’s Goal correspondent Charles Watts, he thinks Arteta could well go with Ben White at right-back again.

“I think, and this is me predicting what I think what Mikel will do. I’d go with Cedric at right-back. But i’ve got a feeling he might go with Ben White at right-back again. White, Holding, Gabriel, and Tierney as a back four,” Watts told his YouTube channel.

“Personally as I’ve said, I’d go with Cedric. But I’ve got a sneaky feeling we might well see Ben White at right-back.”

TBR’s View: Cedric The Safe Bet For Arsenal, Watts Is Right

Watts makes a good point here about Ben White. There is no point in moving what is essentially Arsenal’s best defender into a different position. Especially against Wolves, who will have Raul Jimenez causing issues up top.

White and Gabriel need to keep playing together. Watts described them in this video as the ‘bedrock’ of Arsenal’s team this season. And it’s easy to see why.

Cedric, then, should get the nod from Arteta this week.
