Arsenal transfer target has already been compared to Heung-min Son
Arsenal have been linked with a swoop for Brighton winger Kaoru Mitoma, who has been compared with Heung-min Son.
90Min report that the Japanese international is one of the players the Gunners have turned to after missing out on Mykhaylo Mudryk.
Mikel Arteta still needs a new winger after the Ukrainian international opted to move to Chelsea instead, and Mitoma has broken through for Brighton this season.
After Brighton beat Wolves in November, BBC pundit Garth Crooks named him in his team of the week and compared Mitoma to Son.
Mitoma compared to Son
Crooks wrote: He played his part in the dismantling of Chelsea last week but Mitoma’s performance against Wolves was very impressive.
“The Japan international has all the ingredients of a top-class player. Mitoma has a very similar game to Tottenham’s Son Heung-min.
“He is not afraid to take people on, can see the pass and wants to score goals. Make no mistake, Brighton have a player here.”
Mitoma was again sensational as Liverpool were beaten 3-0 by the Seagulls at the weekend and it is understandable that a performance like that would attract attention from elsewhere.
Brighton know their role in the food chain but it seems unlikely they would be in any hurry to get rid of Mitoma when his value only seems set to increase.
It remains to be seen who the Gunners push the hardest for now that Mudryk is off the table, but Mitoma is seemingly one option, especially if he keeps performing as well as he has been.
