Arsenal have recently been linked with a move for Spanish midfielder Carlos Soler. However, comments from his agent this week will put a dark cloud over any potential move to The Emirates.

The Valencia star’s agent, Rodri, has been speaking to Radio Valencia about the player’s future, as relayed by Goal.

Whilst he admitted that he could not guarantee Soler’s future would remain at the Mestalla, he also insisted that Soler would happily stay at Valencia for the duration of his professional career.

“Carlos and his family would be delighted to end his career at Valencia. Having people in the house who love the house is what closes the circle.

“At the moment, Carlos really identifies with the club and the club identify with him. If I were Valencia, I’d look for players of that profile.

“It’s clear that we can never say that Carlos will end his career at Valencia, but right now he’s very comfortable [there] and his family is too. A different situation would only arise if it was something very good for him and also for the club. But I repeat that, right now, he and his family see themselves at Valencia forever.”

Arsenal have recently been linked with a move for the midfield maestro. As reported by Sky Sports last month, Mikel Arteta is keen on bringing the player to The Emirates as a potential replacement for Real Madrid loanee Dani Ceballos.

The Daily Mail then suggested that Valencia would want a fee in the region of £36 million for the player and that they could be forced into a sale because of financial concerns.

Arsenal certainly need to add depth to their midfield area and Soler is clearly a player that Arteta is fond of.

If Soler’s sale was needed to help keep the club he loves financially secure, then perhaps Arsenal would have a chance.

But it seems the 23-year-old, who is a local lad who came through the Los Ches academy, is very happy where he is and convincing him to leave will take a mammoth effort on Arsenal’s part.
